In 1971 J. Standard Baker Quoted " Drivers Towing Trailers Are Four (4) Times As Unsafe As Those In Cars Alone!
First I will make this statement:
The presumption of innocence is the legal principle that one is considered innocent until proven guilty.
Now the story that I created the opportunity of a thief...a crook and person who mission it is to steal others property and inflict harm and hardship onto others.
Back story after working a very long day at my retail job then coming home exhausted having dinner I went onto my "Ride Sharing Job" I have over 2,700 riders over the past 2 years and I really enjoying taking people home from parties, events, to jobs and even drunk.
I was pulled over in the east end of the County Of Henrico and I obeyed and was respectful. The Officer came to my door I promptly showed my hands and had my wallet out and he of course used the lines that we have heard before.
"Do you know why I pulled you over" and I honestly did not know because I knew I checked my lights, my registration is up to date, my inspection is up to date.... and I knew I was not speeding.
He pulled me over because my 3rd light was out! I humbly apologized and told him he had every right to do it.
It was my fault and I really expected a ticket.
He asked me for my information and license and I gave the officer and also explained that I had to obtain my insurance info by my phone and I could not find the paperwork for my registration.
He checked out my information and once again accepted responsibility and he said and gave me the opportunity to fix the broken light and he would let me go. I thanked him so much and told him I would take myself off my Ride Share Platform and would get the issue fixed in the morning.
I stopped at WAWA and got a coffee and blamed myself for not checking the 3rd light. I came home and yes it was about 1:20 A.M. I thought my wallet was out and a mess and I needed to get some sleep and de-stress and yes put the key under the mat and left the car UNLOCKED. I will say it again....I did it knowing better.
I got up in the morning and wanted to get my daughter Chick Fil A Chicken Mini for breakfast and get the bulb and guess what my mini van was gone.... I went into panic mode as my wife, son and daughter were all criticizing me for what I did.
All of these images...all of the ruined plans, all of the lost revenue that my family desperately needs. Here are the steps I took.
Called the police -- Henrico County responded in about 15 minutes took report and I told him about all the events leading up to the stolen vehicle and told him my 3rd light was out.
Credit cards
Locked debit cards
Called Insurance Company and I don't have comprehensive on vehicle
Also of note I forgot about my EZ Pass ....Note: If you have an EZ Pass you must tell the officer to put that into the report otherwise you are responsible for all charges.
The whole day was a whirlwind and was a blur.
Yes after work I went to the best Italian Restaurant In Richmond Chianti and had my one beer.....and Chianti Pasta dish and yes I did cry and kept going over and over and over the event caused so much hardship.
So I came home and about 10:45 got a knock on our door note I did get about 7 phone calls from No Caller Id that I ignored and the police actually came to my home to tell me they found my car!!!!!!
He told me that actually having the 3rd light not working was the catalyst that enabled the patrol officers to allow them to perform a traffic stop and enabled the offender to get arrested for "Possession Of Stolen Property"
My son and I quickly got ready and followed the officer to the Econo Lodge and Roadway Hotels on Broad Street and expecting my car to be really damaged found out that it smelled, like a wet dog, had everything stolen inside and was totally trashed.
I did see the "Suspect In The Patrol Car"
What I saw next broke my heart that the suspect was about 25 his either unknowing or co-thief was a female of about 23 with a child who was about 5.
The following are the video evidence and pictures of events of this night.
Let this be a lesson..............LOCK UP YOUR HOME....LOCK UP YOUR VEHICLES PLEASE.....DO NOT GIVE THESE UNLOCK DOOR PIRATES AND OPPORTUNITY TO HARM YOUR PROPERTY....OR YOUR LIVES.
Listen to your police and public safety officials......lock your vehicle's and help stop "Unlock Vehicles Pirates"
This Is Where My Vehicle Went After It Was Stolen
