Our endless continuation of evidence gathering of the failure of towing systems to illiustrate why the Utility Trailer Industy of "Self Certification" is not working.   In 1970 the forerunner of the National Highway Traffic Association stated

"Passenger Vehicles That Tow Trailers Are 4 Times More Likely  To Have An Accident  And By 1972  A Unified Safety Standard Was To Be In Place"

UHaul lobbied along with the utility trailer industry to ensure that this critical mandate did not happen
