A 2012 Ford F150 towing an 18-foot boat was travelling westbound on the Gandy Bridge Sunday afternoon when the boat trailer’s hitch malfunctioned and separated from the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The boat and trailer impacted the bridge’s concrete barrier wall but caused no damage. The outside lane is currently closed until the wreckage can removed.

The driver was Jeffrey John Pinney, a 41-year-old Tampa resident.

He was not injured.

Alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
