IPSWICH — A boat and trailer being towed along High Street came loose from their truck and ended up striking a parked car this afternoon.

The accident happened around 2:45 p.m., June 25, in front of 12 High St.

The boat and trailer, which stayed together, hit the rear of a 2013 Subaru Impreza wagon and smashed the car’s rear window and dented the rear door. That car had a New Hampshire registration.

The towing vehicle was a 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup.

What is defective?

Did the hitch fail?

Did the safety chains fail?

Did the hitch pin fail?

Did the towing system on the towing vehicle fail?

Did the Bumper Hitch if used fail?

Nobody wants to  do and investigation as to why the trailer and boat came loose.

Why do we need to know?

Because in 2018 over 500 will die and over 30,000 will be injured and over 40,000 veheicles like this will be destroyed.
