CRASH WITNESSES: The Florida Highway Patrol is seeking the public's
help in locating a vehicle involved in a fatal accident last month on
Florida 13 in St. Johns County.
Ruth Beck, 82, of St. Augustine died of injuries from the crash a
half-mile south of Collier Road, said Lt. Bill Leeper of the Highway
Patrol.
The 1 p.m. accident happened when a vehicle was going southbound on
Florida 13 and attempted to pass another southbound vehicle. A
northbound pickup truck pulling a trailer had to swerve off the road to
avoid the passing car, causing the trailer to come loose and striking a
third vehicle driven by Beck, Leeper said.
Beck died of her injuries the next day at Shands Jacksonville hospital.
The pickup driver, John McKay, 48, of Middleburg, was not injured,
Leeper said.
The passing vehicle, which did not stop after the accident, is a new
model Honda Civic. The four-door car is dark green with chrome wheels,
dark window tinting and small white lettering on the upper part of the
back window, Leeper said.

5 hurt in three I-75 accidents Friday

LIMA -- None of the five people injured in Friday morning accidents on
Interstate 75 had life-threatening injuries, police said.
Within about 30 minutes Friday morning, I-75 experienced a trio of accidents
in the southbound lanes. The accidents involved seven vehicles, the Lima Post
of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
The first crash occurred about 7:25 a.m., just north of state Route 81, when a
20-foot trailer came loose from the 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck that was
pulling it, a report from the Lima post said.
The truck, driven by John Davis, 63, of Maplewood, was northbound on I-75 when
the trailer came loose and crossed the median. The trailer hit a 2002 Ford
Escape driven by Anne Downey, 29, of Bluffton. Downey was injured and taken to
Lima Memorial Hospital where she was listed in fair condition Friday
